A keyboard is a PCB, open firmware, switch logistics, and wireless certification — none of which a small metal shop should improvise. Keychron machines the Q1 Max case from 6063 aluminum the way we would want to, then backs it with QMK/VIA firmware that stays open after the sale. They build at a scale we never will. We held the carbon black version against our shelf and it belongs, so we link to it instead.
Buy it once, map it forever.
Machined, not molded
The case is CNC-cut 6063 aluminum, sandblasted and anodized matte. Nearly four pounds on the desk. It does not move.
Firmware you own
QMK and VIA are open source. Remap any key, write macros, rebind the knob — no account, no proprietary app.
Quiet by design
A double-gasket mount and layered dampening turn each press into a low, padded sound. Double-shot PBT keycaps keep their texture for years.
